I have a confession to make, I still don’t understand my worth.

Some have described worth as being a child of God, or being God’s princess/ queen. I hear those words, and it’s just fluff to me. I don’t understand or comprehend the meaning of the word, worth. Recently, however, God has been determined to get on my level and show me my worth.

Last week, our ministry involved prayer walking a couple schools and other ministries. Prayer walking is when you pray room to room for a particular purpose (i.e. school building—prayers for learning, a safe zone, blessings, and fellowship). During the prayer walk, some of our groups gathered and worshipped together, but some continued spreading blessings. I felt led to pray for the bathroom. Strange huh? I thought so too, but God pressed in me to do it anyway. I went in there and just stood there for a moment, and the words just came. I prayed release over it. I asked God to comfort those in pain, those that were struggling with loneliness, and those that needed literal release. I prayed for peace, purifying, and future healing. Then I saw the mirror, and thought [hey, I have a great idea! I’m going to pray for the women that look there.] I walked over to the mirror, looked in it, and prayed, “Lord, I pray for the women that look at their reflection, I pray that they would realize how beautiful they are; how worthy they are, and that they are your precious daughter. I pray that they would know all these things without a doubt in their mind. Let them know that you will protect them, you will always love them, and they have nothing to worry about, but most of all that they would know they are worth more than they realize.”

After praying, I stood there for a moment and looked at my own reflection, and it dawned on me. I see what you did there, God. I laughed, because I didn’t even imagine that I would pray that prayer, and the first woman to experience the beginnings of realizing her own worth would be me. That was sneaky, God. Touche! [you got me].

Our God has a sense of humor with the best intentions, and He showers us with His love, while helping us understand the things we struggle understanding.

Thank you God for teaching me my worth in a ways that I can understand!

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14 (Read all of Psalm 139! I love it all!)

*”Isn’t it amazing? God said we are his greatest creation. We are worth more than sunsets, stars, beaches and mountains! Just think… YOU are worth more than the prettiest place in the world.” —my squad mate, Allison

I couldn’t comprehend what she meant, until I posed the quote to Matt & he said:

“Mountains and stars last a long time, but people don’t last long at all. No one can ever fully duplicate another human being to be identical to the original. Even identical twins have certain characteristics that are unlike their sibling. No person can be duplicated. That is why people are worth more than mountains, stars, and the prettiest places on Earth. Every human is unique.”

  1. LeAnna, this is an issue that many of us struggle with. It often appears that others are so much more valuable to the Lord’s kingdom. But if you notice in your studies, Jesus always used those who were the least, or the most unlikely objects that man often thinks has little worth. God sees your heart and knows your great worth which is why you are where you are. Your heart is pure and He is able to work through you because He doesn’t have to work around pride, conceit, etc. Know that those who love you know that you are worthy. God knows that you are worthy. So you can rest assured that you are worthy. Now go with confidence that God has placed you where you need to be. (Oh, by the way, got to talk with Matt when we visited your parents. He seems like a very nice guy. It is easy to tell that he really cares about you.)
    Love you,

An uncut diamond is not appealing to look at. However, as the rough outer layers are carefully cut away, the sparkling beautiful stone ‘s true worth is revealed.
Likewise, as God removes our outer layers, His awesome creation is revealed. He sees your worth long before the beauty is evident.
A diamond in the rough is still a diamond!!

  11. VERY touching Leanna. To put it in boxing terms (like, why would you want to do that?), you took one of God’s left hooks (of His love) that caught you wide open. Nice shot Lord!
